• Die Dissertation \(\textit {Zur Rezeption der Gestaltpsychologie in der Linguistik}\) – \(\textit {Unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Romanistik}\) ist ein theoretischer Beitrag aus der romanistischen Linguistik. Ihr Untersuchungsgegenstand besteht in dem historischen Einfluss von ursprünglich wahrnehmungspsychologischen Denktraditionen auf verschiedene Bereiche der Linguistik im 20. und 21. Jahrhundert. Im Fokus steht die Auseinandersetzung mit dem \(\textit {dynamischen Zusammenhang von Teilen und Ganzen}\) in Wahrnehmung bzw. Sprache. Die Analyse stellt heraus, dass gestaltpsychologisches Teil-Ganzes-Denken derart flächendeckend Einzug in die linguistische Forschungsarbeit erhalten hat, dass sich hieraus ein großes, aber bisher nicht ausgeschöpftes Potential für den Entwurf eines allgemeinen Ansatzes zur Beschreibung der Rezeption und Produktion von Sprache ergibt. Der Vorschlag eines solchen Ansatzes (Gestaltsemiotik) und die Entwicklung eines terminologischen Instrumentariums hierfür sind das Hauptergebnis der Arbeit.
• The doctoral thesis \(\textit {On the Reception of Gestalt Psychology in Linguistic Thought}\) – \(\textit {With Impulses from Romance Linguistics}\) is a theoretical contribution. The analysis focusses on the historical influence early traditions of perceptul psychology excerted on various areas of linguistic study in the 20th and 21st century. The \(\textit {dynamic interrelation of parts and wholes both}\) in perception and in language is at the center of the enquiry. The great extent to which gestalt-psychological thought on part-whole-relations has been introduced to linguistic research is shown to hold a hitherto neglected potential for a general theoretical approach describing language production and comprehension. The development of this approach (gestalt-semiotics) and the delineation of adequate terminolgy are the main result of the thesis.
